Individual Counseling

Let’s be real: everyone experiences struggles

Life can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stuck. You may be struggling with sadness, anxiety, insecurities, loneliness, or lack of self-esteem. Maybe you are unhappy with your life or feel unfulfilled. Perhaps you are struggling with dating/relationship issues or are going through a recent divorce leaving you feeling a great deal of stress and pain. You are ready for change and you know you need support in making it.

Creating long-term change in your life involves intention, an open mind, and willingness to take the first step. Many people often dismiss the idea of therapy because they don’t think their problems are “big enough” or believe the things they are experiencing aren't real problems. The reality is, what's happening for you is real and your growth and happiness do matter. We can all benefit from an outside perspective, support, and connection with another human.

Through individual therapy, we will work collaboratively to enhance your level of self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and work towards your goals.

 How Individual Therapy Works

The first step is to schedule a free consultation where we can determine if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about what prompted you to seek therapy and about what you hope to achieve through working together.

During our first session, we’ll explore in more depth your story and what your goals are.

In our second session, we will collaboratively create a plan of what you want to achieve during our time together. We’ll discuss some of the roadblocks you may face and strategies to overcome them.

In our subsequent sessions, we will continue to working toward your goals. If new problems arise, we will hold space for those problems, too. Periodically, we will check in on your goals and make adjustments as needed.

 Frequently Asked Questions

+ How many sessions do I need and how frequently do we need to meet?

The number of sessions you need is entirely personal to you, your situation, and the goals you are hoping to achieve. I see clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and on average, clients work with me from 4-6 months but this can vary. I recommend scheduling a free consultation to receive a more personalized overview of how many sessions may be the most beneficial for your unique situation.

+ What if I have a session scheduled but I don't have anything to talk about?

Sometimes the sessions when you feel like there's nothing to say can be the most impactful! Many times, people feel like they need to have a lot going on to have our sessions be productive. I find that is not the case and that it gives us the space to focus in on your goals. However, if you feel like you need extra time between sessions, you can reschedule an appointment as long as you do so within 48 hours of your appointment.

+ Do I really need therapy?

You might be thinking, my problems aren't that bad or not sure if therapy with help with your situation. We can all benefit from an outside perspective and knowledgable guidance. Your challenges, thoughts, and feelings all matter and you deserve to invest in yourself to make your life how you want it to be. No matter your specific struggles, you shouldn't have to sit with them alone.
